
The purpose of the YMCA Youth Aquatics Program is to help participants lay a good foundation of basic aquatic skills. We hope this leads them to develop appreciation for aquatic activities, which include not only swimming but also lifesaving, lifegaurding, and aquatic sports. At each level of the program, participants are involved in activities relating to five components:

Aquacise - Aquacise is a low to moderate intensity water aerobic class. This 45-minute class consists of a warm-up, cardiovascular exercises, flexibility exercises and a cool down. The ability to swim is not necessary.

Water Walking - Increases muscle tone and flexibility. Improves circulation and coordination. Uses a ski-belt to walk the deep end of the pool.

Arthritis Water Exercise
An exercise program to help those with arthritis manage symptons and maintain independence.
